Grindhouse was great, but what do I know?
Go see Grindhouse.
Fuck the hipsters, the haters, whoever thinks separating Planet Terror and Death Proof is a good idea.
Three hours of fun. Flat out enjoyment.
Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez turn in two flicks that rejoice in their occasional cheesiness, their over-the-top revelry in pulp fun.
Planet Terror brings us a zombie horror flick that brims with stylized Rodriguez patented action. Rodriguez's visual style thrives within a film that much like it's one legged character, puts all it's weight into recapturing the enjoyable detour an afternoon matinée.
What Planet Terror lacks in story, Death Proof makes up for in a talky terror filled romp that even manages to even puts Kurt Russell to good use. Whereas Rodriguez embraced visual aesthetics such as the scratches and missing reels to round out his Grindhouse entry, Tarantino plots out a slasher picture where the killer trades in his butcher knife for a deathproof car which he uses to stalk his female prey. While Death Proof lacks the minute by minute action, Tarantino's dialogue gives his female cast ample verbiage which enables them to create characters that the audience can at least identify while Stuntman Mike chases after them.
Additionally there trailers that preceed and serve as the intermission are terrific nods to B-Movie thrillers of the past, although it sounds like there we might be seeing a feature length version of Machete sometime in the future.
We can only hope. Tarantino and Rodriguez have made a career on making glorified modifications on exploitation pictures, let's hope they don't decide to abandon from one of their influences.

Well the Brewers won 2 in 1 day and still no post from Boy Vacation.
I'm glad you dug the flick. I can't wait to see it again, and I see that you like Tarantino so much that you renamed his contribution "Danger Proof".
You're fitting in nicely Mr. Hennessy.
Yeah, thanks, I needed to fix that. Further proof that late night writing and drinking don't always go well.
I almost went to the game today, Indians vs. Angels, but didn't. People are really digging it around here. It's nice having real sports teams in town, even if for a little while.
I heard they played Wild Thing during the first game when the Indians closer came out. That's awesome.
I bet the Brewers have a better record this year than both of these teams.
I'll bet you Charles' Amidala mask. Deal?
