Strange Brewings

Bush and Cheney criticize Democrats on Iraq Troop Withdrawal

WASHINGTON (YIFTM) - In a surprise to no one, President Bush and Vice President Cheney questioned the motives behind the Democrats' proposed war spending bill that would include bringing US troops home later this year. The bill is about to go before the House and Senate, and no doubt will incur Mr. Bush's beloved veto ability.

“Instead of fashioning a bill I could sign, the Democratic leaders chose to further delay funding our troops, and they chose to make a political statement,” Mr. Bush said Tuesday morning before leaving for New York. “That’s their right. But it is wrong for our troops and it’s wrong for our country.”

Meanwhile, Emperor Cheney chimed in, specifically targeting Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the Democratic leader who fired the first shots Monday in statements that alluded to the President's and Vice President's ongoing denial about the war.

“What’s most troubling about Senator Reid’s comments yesterday is his defeatism,” said Mr. Cheney. “And the timetable legislation that he is now pursuing would guarantee defeat. Maybe it is a political calculation.”

And so the back and forth of statements drenched in sarcasm between Republicans and Democrats continues while our soldiers in Iraq participate in a different kind of debate. What's really troubling to me is that I agree with Bush's Evil Empire in that the Democratic Party is using the troop removal to bolster their chances for winning the Presidency next year. But at this point I don't care...this country needs a change. Families aren't just burying their loved ones, they're burying their futures. We as a nation need to stand up and say enough blood shed, enough lives lost, and enough bickering. And we need Natalie Portman to lead that charge through her college campus Democratic support tour. I fucking missed her on the last election.

Well, we do give CW a lot of grief about this day, but I for one am thankful he did not go. I value his friendship more than I can say, and am convinced he will blow up or spontaneously self-combust if he is ever in the same room with Ms. Portman. The Good Lord was looking out for you on that Monday in early fall '04.

Here's some photos from the visit - she was fucking smoking!!!!!!!!!!

A highly anticipated new (and old) series from Bill Moyers airs tonight on PBS, taking "a look at coverage of the run-up to the Iraq War by the mainstream media". Surprise, he does not like it.

The problem (as I see it from Londonderry) with the country right now is we have no one who tries to bring about positive change through leading by example - just lots of divisive bickering and pointing out of the obvious. Time for a change indeed.

the combustion would have been similar in vein to Stay Puff exploding in the original GhostBusters.
