YIFTM's Album of the Week

GLENDALE, CA (YIFTM) - Ok. It’s been a few sun down/sun ups since our last Yeah, I Figured Weekly Music Pick. But we’ve spent those days and nights researching our respective music tastes and came up with a true winner. The Good, The Bad & the Queen’s self-titled album: The Good, The Bad & The Queen is an album that should be listened to by everyone. Well, maybe not those apposed to quality ear candy or those with an insistent necessity to overstate the obvious, Films of Scorsese (Music), but everyone else should give it a spin on their personal musical merry-go-round (stereo/freestyle).

For me, this album ends way too quickly. It also is most effective when listening to the entire album instead of just specific tracks. (This is a terrible attempt at giving credence to something of such great talent) This is an all-star band of sorts, with my personal favorite being the original Clash bass player, Paul Simonon.

I’ve said it before and I’m sure this won’t be the last time. The Good, The Bad & the Queen’s self-titled album: The Good, The Bad & The Queen is my favorite album so far this year. LCD Soundsystem’s new one is good, and surprisingly so is Trent Reznor’s new one: Year Zero. But with a collaboration between the Dust Brothers and They Might Be Giants scheduled for a summer release, a new Beasties album and the new Motor album: Unhuman all scheduled for 2007, we may see The Good, The Bad & the Queen’s self titled album: The Good, The Bad & The Queen slipping in the yearly ranks. But for now it’s holding it’s own at #1.

Gangsta here: I concur with Mr. Jingles. This album is quality from beginning to end. The second collabo between Damon Albarn and producer of the moment, Danger Mouse, is a melodic sleepwalk with roots firmly planted in Punk, Dub, Afrobeat, and other genres I have no business claiming authority or knowledge on. Dudes from the Clash, the Verve, and Fela Kuti's band round off this musical supergroup. I've never heard any of those groups, besides the Clash (Scorsese), but I imagine this album encompasses the best elements from those bands.

And finally a big 'Fuck You' to J.Jerry for revoking my Admin abilities. I'll take those back, thank you.

It's a give and take relationship. You give and I'll take.
