A Case of the Mondays on a Tuesday?

GLENDALE, CA (YIFTM) – Turnbow blew the save last night, I’ve got a faster than normal heartbeat, the sky is covered with clouds and my new job is lame. It sounds like somebody’s got a case of the Mondays, but its Tuesday. Maybe I’m doomed to live life in a fog of uncertainty and mediocrity. Or maybe my life is just about perfect and I’m complaining too much. Whichever answer is correct, it doesn’t change the fact that I find myself in a funk.

Unable to get excited about anything anymore, I seem to have caught the Gangsta Warner bug. Knowing even as I type this that this article is a complete waste of time, I feel it’s all I have to offer.

The new They Might Be Giants album, The Else is available for download at iTunes. Through track 8 it sounds good. A more rockin’ display by the quirky duo, the presence of the Dust Brothers is noticeably welcome throughout. I dig the cover too. Perhaps only for the diehard Giants fan (the iTunes download), this album, much like every Giants album, only gets better with each listen (I’m not sure of this as I’ve only finished 8 of the 13 tracks, but I’d bet money I’m right). Their last album, The Spine was a bit of a disappointment upon first listen but has now become one of my favorites of theirs.

I guess the point of this article, if it’s Tuesday and you find yourself in a hash-less, acid-less, un-southern comfortable haze, the best remedy is a hardy dose of They Might Be Giants.

A wise man once said: “The only bad Giants song is one that skips.” I’d like to meet that individual.

I like this photo - is that the cover of their album? Looks like they took it themselves - that's why I like it I guess.

The only good TMBG song is the one that doesn't get stuck in your head for like forever. Figure that one out...
