Prince of Peace
LOS ANGELES, CA (YIFTM) – Tempers flared and hearts were broken as the Milwaukee Brewers handed a victory to the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday night. The Brewers took the first game but lost on Tuesday, then again on Wednesday after Chris Capuano gave up 4 runs in the first inning. Later, a ball that had been called a homerun had been recalled a foul ball, but not until the batter made it all the way around the bases and back into the dugout. Leave it to Yosty to offer precipitation on the opposing batter’s parade. The umpires quickly met and the decision was made, foul ball. The very next pitch had the batter’s head written all over it. Knocked out of the box the LA fans, already in the middle of their tantrum over the homerun that wasn’t, began hurling insults and curse words towards the field and demanding brutal retaliation. They got it. 2 pitches later the batter was walked which set up a pleasant conversation opportunity with Milwaukee area big boy Prince Fielder. When are these fly-by-night LA fans going to learn that you don’t mess with the Prince? Benches cleared, bullpens cleared, and I think a fan ran onto the field to offer his strong arm to the face of the Brewers first baseman.
As quickly as the incident had started it was settled. Both teams returned to their respected infield caves and outfield alleys. No one was ejected, no warnings were given, and everybody went back to playing baseball.I can’t say I’ve ever seen a homerun called back before. It was interesting. After all this, I’d still have to say the highlight of the game was in the 8th when the song, Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison pumped through the speaker system.
The Brewers, a potential fight, $12 beers and Van Morrison. We here at Yeah, I Figured That Much really couldn’t ask for anything else on a cool Wednesday night in southern California. Well, a Brewers win maybe.
And even though the “Draft” Dodgers won the series, the Brewers still have a better record.
