No More Virgin Pumpkins

Grunge rockers of yester-year Smashing Pumpkins are suing Virgin Megastore for unlawfully using one of their songs to promote a Pepsi ad. Apparently their contract only gives Virgin the credence to sell digital files of Smashing Pumpkins music. So while drinking a Coke Billy Corgan was all like, “No way Jose. We gonna’ sue!”

More info can be found here.

Oh, and for the record (no pun intended), VIRGIN SUCKS! Greedy companies selling low end products for high prices never get my support, and if I were to make one, Virgin would probably top my Most Hated Music Store list. I loathe having to step into that store for work.

Not sure I agree with low end product accusation. nothing low end about space flights.

speaking of low end, none of these bands are: k-os, n.e.r.d, the good, the bad, and the queen, daft punk, gorillaz. all are virgin artists. many of which you have in your collection.

I can get behind the greed component of your latest rant, but there are far more vicious things to loathe than going to a virgin mega store. Besides, they have a fucking great import section.

Yeah, they don't sell space flight at the Megastore across the street from our office. Just $25 cd's and $40 DVD's.

I don't own a single non-burned CD copy of any of those bands you mentioned. Why don't I? I can't afford Virgin's "astronomical" prices.

:)

really. i seem to remember good deals at the SF store. picked up in search of...on vinyl for a cool $15. plus they do nice catalog sales of 3 for $20. picked up devo and jane's addiction via that promotion.

have since sold jane's addiction.

I think you're mistaking Virgin Megastore for Amoeba Music.

Funny you mention that. I had to rummage through photos of that trip last night so I could show Jason (my hairstylist) how short I wanted my haircut today.

I stumbled upon the one you took of me from the second media floor holding the holy grail of vinyl. but truth be told, i bought it earlier in the trip in SF.

In agreement we are. Amoeba is the best. no question.

Corporate and frugal greed at odds again.

Made a minor adjustment to Common post that justifies it's exsistence on this site.
