Mariachis “Serenade” Iraqi Rebels

SANTA CECILIA, MEXICO (YIFTM) – As U.S. military casualties rise into the thousands from the war in Iraq and a non existent approval rating back home, President George W. Bush has finally acknowledged, “that this war is not winnable unless we get some serious outside aid.”

Faced with nowhere to turn but south of the border, the President has asked for assistance from Mexico in the form of a three-piece mariachi band.

“Legend has it that these mariachis carry suitcases full of guns, not guitars,” remarked the President. “That sounds pretty cool.”

Democrats were quick to react to the President’s latest attempt to stabilize Iraq.
“This sounds like another one of Pres. Bush’s hap-hazard plans,” said Senator and now Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. “What kind of a result will three mariachis yield? An entire country of Iraqi rebels against three mariachis from Mexico…c’mon!”

Sen. Clinton’s comments seemed to echo that of the entire country. In an early poll, 99.9% of American citizens did not think this new strategy would work.
Skeptics were quickly silenced however as the mariachis arrived in Iraq and immediately began their assault.

“I’ve never seen military strategy like this,” stated US Navy Admiral William Fallon. “These guys simply walk into bar after bar and proceed to ‘serenade’ the Iraqi rebels. Only they don’t perform a nice little song; rather their serenade consists of a hail of bullets.”
