Legend Has It
While walking amongst the souvenir stands and sea lions at San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, a man caught my eye.
Dressed entirely in black and carrying what looked to be a guitar case, the man was approximately 100 yards in front of me. I followed him a few blocks, gradually weaving my way through clusters of tourists, each one clutching a plastic shopping bag full of protruding gifts and mementos.
Must be for their loved ones back home...I hope they like shit. That's what I thought.
Distraction aside, I managed to close the gap between the mystery man and myself. Only 50 yards separated me and the loosening of the grip this stranger's mystique had around my neck.
Who is he?
Why is he dressed in black...head to toe?
Why is he stopping?
The man's attention was thwarted by a street vendor. Looks like this artisan's specialty was drawing cartoonish caricatures and the man in black was to be his next victim.
I discretely hid behind another man that looked like Flavor Flav if Flavor Flav covered himself in silver spray paint and stood completely still for hours on end.
My view allowed only faint glimpses of the man in black's profile. His hair was long and flowing from the Pacific breeze. The rest of his body remained completely still as the painter began crafting his latest masterpiece.
Twenty minutes later shots rang out, crowds dispersed, and the mystery man was nowhere to be found.
I ran as fast as I could to catch him, but found only the vendor who lay lifeless in a pool of blood and black paint. He was dead. His victim became the victor.
I reached down and pried from the dead man's clenched fist, the finished product...

I never did get to see his eyes.

He must be a musician, a guitar player perhaps. Nice piece.
Did you keep the drawing or did you hand it over to the Bay Area authorities?
Have you ever heard of Henley Nuschler? Apparently he tells a story that involves a similar character.
I handed it over to a man who calls himself Bucho. That is all. And thankfully I didn't have to do it the hard way.
And yes, I've heard of this Nuschler character. Doesn't seem like he's a credible source.
However these guitar case/mass killings are not isolated incidents.
There is an article I read a fews weeks back by Nuschler pertaining to a guy who disguises his weapons inside an instrument case. I'll see if I can find it. I don't think he's all that great of a writer, but he seems to know a bit about this legend.
Again...tread cautiously. This Nuschler is not to be trusted.
