Why So Blu?

The New York Times has an interesting look at the current high def format war between Toshiba's HD DVD and Sony's Blu-ray...or lack there of. Seems the majority of consumers and more directly, consumers with high def TV sets, don't plan on buying one anytime soon.

Idiots.

Grease, Lady Grease, and I sat down and watched Kubrick's 2001: A Sith Odyssey last night in Blu-ray form. Never has the lack of light sabre battles looked more stunning.

Seriously, we M-A-R-V-E-L-E-D at the crispness of detail during the opening 'Dawn of Man' section and were completely blown away (like exploding bolts through pod bay doors) by the space orchestra of colors - they really POP!

Read the article here, but disregard any and all buyer's remorse. Blu-ray is a San Francisco GIANT leap forward in High Def quality. In other words it's a home run!
