J.Jerry's Daily Music Pick(s)

GLENDALE, CA (YIFTM) - I think it was Martinez who gave me shit for not hearing Institutionalized. And at that time I was a good friend with Pete. You know, Pete the music guy. Our taste in music overlapped quite a bit and I asked him about Suicidal Tendencies. He said I’d probably like them and he was right.

For a time my favorite album, Suicidal Tendencies’ first release, and self titled masterpiece is as strong today as it was in the wake of its release in 1983. Mike Muir would later drop the aggressive punk style and adopt that more resembling metal. With the uncompromising drumming of AWOL (Amery Smith, later to work with Adam Horovitz and co-create BS2000) and tracks like, I Shot the Devil and Fascist Pig, your political anger will be fed a 3 course meal, with plenty of room for desert (I saw your mommy and your mommy’s dead, I saw her lying in a pool of red.)

All Music gives it 4 1/2 out of 5 and includes it among their personal AMG Picks.

How the hell would know if it was as strong back in 1983 as it is today...you were like 4.

You'd be surprised the things I know about (or pretend to know about).

This sits between Styx and Sultans in my humble vinyl collection. Reminds me of the Lodge. Thanks for the record 23-year old Lueptow!
