Kimi Takes Round One

Australian Grand Prix Sets Stage for 2007 Season

LONDONDERRY - From pole to podium Kimi Raikkonen drove his Ferrari the same way his predecessor Michael Schumacher so often did - in front all day. It was strange to see Kimi in the Rosso Corsa. Strange to see Alonso not with Renault. The first Grand Prix post-Michael produced familiar results however. A Ferrari took the checkered flag and the two best drivers of their generation finished first and second. Fernando Alonso, the youngest person to ever be World Champion, the Kobe Bryant of Formula 1, breaking off the dynasty that he had with Flavio Briatore at Renault, finished second. Kimi Raikkonen, not as easily comparable to LeBron James, but all talent and never with a reliable car or great team behind him, finally gets to show what he can truly do with the best equipment in the sport. Should be a great season.

For those new to the sport, here are the top 5 reasons I am in love with Formula 1:

5.) The elite nature of the sport and the amount put into technology and competition. Toyota spent $300 million (U.S.) last year. The Yankees '06 payroll = $ 194,663,079.
4.) The Start of the Races
3.) The Personalities - These guys are competitors and want to win so badly. This is missing from a lot of American sports where many of the opposing team members are friendly with each other.
2.) The History
1.) The Women

Back to the racers.

Just like J. Jerry and Gangsta, these two are young, cocky and at the top of their game. And here I am, the Jeff Gordon to their Kimi and Alonso - just happy to be a spectator at the 2006 U.S. Grand Prix, but wondering if I have what it takes to compete at the highest level. I'll never know because I am too set in my ways and the moment has probably already passed anyway. When the Speed cameras find me, I give a big, "Hey, how's it going!" I have no sponsor obligations, but I am unable to turn off the robot I have become. Eager to please and unaware that I am not in on the joke.

Emperor strikes again - I'll fix it myself. I get why you tried to fix the links at the end, but now why is there a big link in the middle of my copy?

I'm seriously getting addicted to the Alonso song - no lie! I'm playing it over and over again. I like the part where there's a break in the song with the horns and he starts having trouble on the track and he pulls it back to victory and the chorus kicks in again!!!

Gives me goosebumps like when Rocket brings "White Belt" back one more time around the 2:00 mark - goosebumps I tell you!

The Alonso song sounds like it could be in Desperado so I thought you two might like it. I'm taking a shower and done posting for the day. Thanks for commenting! I feel bad for complaining last night.

Like everyone reading my articles must think, that's 2 minutes of my life I'm never getting back (2:10 in this case)

Sorry you didn't like it L. Lippy. F1 does fit your criteria for something to get into - nobody likes it or knows about it(in the U.S. I mean).

It'll be the next chapter in the book of Lippy

Running time 0:17 - 0:21 on the Alonso link is how L. Lippy and Gangsta greet each other. It's uncomfortable.

You're limp wristed for saying that.
